Our names
Are the first words we hear,
And know,
Even before we learn about
Mom and Dad.
Although the first words we say
Might not be them,
Deep down there,
In the subconscious zone,
We know our names first by our parents' pride and joy,
And by how we learn to say
Our first words
When they call our names.
Sometimes we forget
Them
And try to disguise them with
Flashy nouns
And awkward verbs
Because sometimes,
Being someone else,
Even if you have to imagine that someone,
seems better than being ourselves.
And thus sometimes,
We disown our names,
For the better
Or worse.
